About Will

Will Sizemore received his Bachelor of Music degree in French Horn Performance with a minor in Arts Administration from the University of North Carolina Greensboro where he studied under Dr. Abigail Pack. He holds a Master of Music degree in French horn Performance from Rutgers University at the Mason Gross School of the Arts where he studied under Leelanee Sterrett of the New York Philharmonic. He is a member of the International Horn Society. Will is a sought after orchestral and chamber musician as well as teacher in the Ann Arbor, Michigan area.

Originally from North Carolina, Will has performed with the Durham Symphony Orchestra, Brevard Philharmonic Orchestra, Salisbury Symphony, Orchestra and the Greensboro Opera. At UNCG, Will was on the premiere and recording commission of composer D.J. Sparr’s Ella Que Llora which appeared on UNCG Wind Ensemble’s Centennial Collection Album. During his time in New Jersey, Will founded and performed with his ensemble, the Garden State Quintet, which won the Rutgers University Chamber music competition and performed at the quarterfinals of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. During his summers, Will has performed at the Eastern Music Festival, National Music Festival, and the Mostly Modern Festival.

In his Master’s Degree at Rutgers University, Will worked as a Departmental Assistant at the Mason Gross School of the Arts. For two years, he taught horn lessons to undergraduate students, tutored undergraduate students in music theory and aural skills, and worked as an assistant to the advisor of undergraduate students. In addition to his work as a departmental assistant, he served on university staff as the orchestral librarian to prepare and distributed music for the orchestras of Rutgers University. In 2023, Will worked to get Rutgers University to be an accredited member Major Orchestra Librarians' Association (MOLA). Additionally, he and his colleague Claire Oplinger cataloged and renovated the Rutgers orchestral performance library which totals more than 750 works and completes the first catalog since 1984.

Will is currently an active freelance horn performer and teacher in the Ann Arbor, Michigan area. He enjoys teaching private lessons to students of all ages to help them achieve their musical goals. His well rounded approach that balances musical and technical aspects of performance works to guide students to musical excellence. Through lessons, students learn school band and orchestra repertoire as well as how to progress in regional and state solo competitions.
